Useful Fact #1: I must admit, prior to writing this blog, I knew exactly what the RMHC was but in a much more real sense, I had no idea what the RMHC was . I was fascinated to learn that the purpose of the RMHC is to help families struggling with problems, mainly financial, stay near and support a hospitalized child. In our nation’s poorest counties, it is reported that an alarming number of children miss several meals a day and go to bed hungry regularly. In thig blog, I will highlight 5 facts about Feeding America and ways we can go about fighting hunger in America. Recently, I had the privilege of taking my children to feed the homeless around our local community. You can check it out HERE . Useful Fact #1: Feeding America is a nationwide network of food banks. According to Feeding America, John van Hengel, a retired businessman, came up with the concept of food banking in Phoenix, AZ, in the late 1960s. Today, Feeding America has hundreds of locations spread across the United States. A food pantry functions as the arms that reach out to that community directly.
